DW@CB Fishing Club Monthly Meeting Minutes Date: Tuesday, 5 January, 2021
Location: Resort, Piccolo Room, 2-3pm
Attendance: Total of 11 Attendees Officers (3) James Raymer, Pres.; Jim Schwab, VP; and Mary Clark-Wilson, Secretary; Members (7); and New Member (1) Dennis Fritsch;
Opening Remarks: James Raymer spoke about offsite fishing opportunities including: SC State Parks; Lakes Moultrie and Marion; coastal area fishing piers; Cherokee, NC; Santee, Cooper, and other nearby rivers: Eagle Harbor Boys Ranch; and local Charters. James also introduced our new Treasurer, Mary Clark-Wilson. Treasurer’s Report: Jim Schwab gave a report saying Dues Paid for 2020 will be carried over to 2021. Dues will only be collected for New Members ($15). The end of the year balance is $3286.65 and will be transferred from United Bank to SouthernFirst Bank, located in Nexton.
Old Business: All-Year-Long Fishing Tournament – Catches so far? Jim Schwab reported catching 365 fish (333-Bass, 21- Catfish, 10 Crappie, and 1-Bowfin) in DW@CB ponds in 2020. Bob Watson was 2nd with ~ 230 Bass. Jim offered up his MS Excel Fishing Log Spreadsheet to anyone that wants it.
Jim reported that all Webpage and eMail Contracts were recently renewed for 2021 New Business: Jim reported that the Partners Mixed Species Tournament – Held on the cold morning Dec 9, 0930-1230 9 Participants Clarence Cothran (a new member) was the Winner, catching a Bass Don Paczynski and Mike D’Angelico tied for second James reported that the Club Social was being cancelled due to the Resort Covid Restrictions and would be rescheduled for later is the summer or early fall of 2021.
Tournaments for 2021: Jim led a discussion of tournaments and the lack of participation. He has scheduled another Open Mixed Species Tournament (open to all DW@CB residents) on Saturday, January 16th, from 11:30-2:30pm. Details sent out to members on January 11th and Mindy Jones will send out a notice to the community on Jan 12th .
Don Paczynski talked about giving another “Fishing for Beginners” seminar to be offered in the Spring. He will contact DNR about getting the fishing equipment needed to hold the class.
Pat Hawkins said he is looking for a “fishing partner” to go with him on fishing trips and Summerville Bass Club Tournaments. He has a well-equipped fishing boat and needs someone to accompany him on his trips. Pond Cleanup Project:
